Annual General Meeting 2024
Postgrads Helping Postgrads to Succeed

We are very pleased to announce that Dr Desiree Kozlowski  from SCU School of Health and Human Sciences will be delivering the keynote address at PRAXIS 2018.

Desiree will speak about the role of hedonic pleasure in productivity and resilience, especially as a postgraduate student. Desiree’s primary interest is in hedonic pleasure and pleasurable emotions, especially their relationship with human health, resilience, creativity and flourishing. She is also interested in emotional intelligence as it relates to leadership and teamwork. Desiree is involved with several funded research projects right now including one on the role of emotional intelligence in the health workforce and one on emotion and emotional intelligence in clinical decision-making.

See this great article from Dr Kozlowski in the Conversation about hedonic pleasure & health:  https://theconversation.com/what-is-hedonism-and-how-does-it-affect-your-health-78040

“What if, instead of a guaranteed one-way road to ruin, hedonism is good for your health? If we think of hedonism as the intentional savouring of simple pleasures – like playing in fallen leaves, moments of connection with friends, or cuddling the dog – then it probably is. Seeking and maximising these kinds of pleasures can boost our health and well-being.”

Make sure you don’t miss out on this exciting keynote! Registration for all postgraduate students is free on the SCPA website- register now!
