I started my career in sales and marketing and events in the hospitality industry and have worked for the Marriott and Hyatt hotels. In the last three years after maternity leave I decided to change career paths and finished the Bachelor of Social Welfare in 2015 through Southern Cross University (SCU) and have been an internal, external student and mentor.
This year I commenced the Master of Social Work (Professional Qualifying) at SCU and will be finished after field placement in 2017. I have been fortunate to live in five countries, and have just recently returned from two years living in Singapore. I have many passions within the social welfare field, and enjoy volunteering locally with homeless and substance users and consulting to overseas orphanages and refugees in Malaysia and Cambodia.
My interests include building community connectedness, traveling and entertaining. It is very important to me to continually seek new ways to educate myself through life experiences and development workshops. I have recently been elected as an SCPA committee member and into the position of Postgraduate Student Representative on the SCU Academic Board and am very excited to be serving SCU students in both these positions.
