SUMMARY:Shut Up & Write - Gold Coast campus
DESCRIPTION:The Library is hosting a series of Shut Up & Write! sessions for staff and HDR students. \nConcept \nKeeping on top of writing commitments can be a struggle. \nShut up & Write @ SCU Library is an opportunity to commit to a period of writing in a neutral space—not in your office\, nowhere near your phone and away from your students\, family\, or colleagues. HDR candidates and academic staff are invited to work alongside each other and simply shut up and write. There is no agenda\, critiquing\, exercises\, lectures\, ego\, competition or feeling guilty. \nAt 8am sharp\, we begin writing in silence and stop 25 minutes later for a 5-10 min break. The break serves as an opportunity for the group to grab a drink\, talk and clear their brain (get some perspective). We settle down again for another 25 minutes writing and then the session winds up. \nSo simple – but it works. \nOur goal is to help you set aside dedicated writing time\, make progress\, learn from others\, and become part of a community of academic writers. \nSo if you’ve got a thesis chapter\, journal article\, grant application\, or conference abstract to write\, you’ve come to the right place! \nWhere and when? \nLismore Learning Centre:  \n\nTuesdays 8-9am\n\nResearcher Rm (Level 3) \nGold Coast Campus Library: \n\nWednesdays 8-9am\n\nGroup Study Room (Level 4) \nCoffs Harbour Campus Library: \n\nTuesdays 8-9am\n\nCoffs Library Lab \nWhat you’ll need: Bring your writing equipment: laptop\, tablet\, ipad\, pen and paper. \nFirst session for 2017:   \n\nTuesday 21st February (Coffs Harbour Campus)\nTuesday 21st February (Lismore Campus)\nWednesday 22nd February (Gold Coast Campus)\n\nNo need to register\, just turn up on the day! \nFrom more information please contact:  Library Research Group lrg@scu.edu.au \n
