SCPA Welcomes All Postgrads to 2016

On behalf of the SCPA management and staff team, our warmest welcome goes out to all postgrads for 2016. If you are a new postgraduate student at SCU, then our welcome to you is particularly heartfelt

Postgraduate study can be a lonely, difficult and even confusing undertaking. However, we at SCPA (Southern Cross Postgraduate Association) want to let you know that you are not alone.

Membership of SCPA is open to all postgraduate students enrolled at SCU, and membership is free of charge. You can join online simply by visiting our website membership page.

Our purpose at SCPA is to advance and defend the interests of all postgraduate students at SCU by providing:-

• information, advice, assistance and referral services;
• skills training workshops (e.g. advanced MS Word and MS Excel; ENvivo; SPSS);
• our annual postgrad research & practice conference;
• forums for discussion, debate and networking;
• professional & social functions;
• research into the educational and other needs of postgrads at SCU;
• publishing information bulletins and magazines;
• representing and advancing the rich cultural diversity of SCU’s postgraduate student community.

Our Postgrad Helpline is available Monday-Friday 10am – 3pm. You can ring the HelpLine on 1300 654 830, or text 0401 108 056. Our HelpLine Project Officer, Craig Wilson, is available in person at the Lismore campus, located in Shop 11c, Goodman Plaza (right next to the ATM), and he can help you to find the answer to most postgraduate enquiries. Craig’s normal office hours are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10am – 3 pm.
