BACKGROUND TO THE POSITION

Southern Cross Postgraduate Association (SCPA) provides representation and direct services to some 3,000 postgraduate and honours students enroled at Southern Cross University (SCU).  These include both course work and Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students, enroled both internally and externally, and including a large cohort of international students.  SCPA is managed by an honorary management committee of postgraduate students, and is supported by professional staff in a collaborative and supportive team environment.  SCPA has offices on each of SCU’s Lismore, Gold Coast and Coffs Harbour campuses.

The Project Officer (Skills Training Workshops & Resources) will coordinate SCPA’s advanced skills training programs and the development of online training tools & resources for postgraduate and honours students.  Where appropriate, the worker also may provide informal advice & support to HDR students in research methods & data analysis.  The successful candidate will not necessarily be required personally to deliver direct training.  Rather, the focus of this position will be to source qualified trainers and resources, and to coordinate the development, delivery & promotion of a program of relevant training workshops and supplementary training resources.  These will be designed to supplement those services already delivered by the University itself.

This position would be particularly well-suited to current or former postgraduate students and/or supervisors who can bring a wide range of skills in, for example:  program coordination & promotion;  needs analysis & program evaluation;  and quantitative and/or qualitative research methods & data analysis.
