Postgrads Helping Postgrads to Succeed

Call for Abstracts & Registration

Yes, we’re back!

PRAXIS, the annual SCPA Postgrad Research and Practice Conference, is a two-day conference where SCU’s research and coursework postgrads can gain experience in formally presenting your work to your peers in a supportive and collegial academic environment.  Honours students also are welcome to present and attend.

PRAXIS 2017 will be our 4th Annual Conference and this year will be held Thursday-Friday 15-16 June at SCU’s Lismore campus.  Our 2017 conference once again will be the gathering place for research and coursework postgrads, honours students and our supervisors from across all disciplines at SCU.

Register to present at this year’s PRAXIS conference before 19 May and you will go into the draw to win a sponsorship to your choice of ACSPRI winter training courses, up to the value of $2000.  Click here for further details.

Research Students

The conference is suited to postgrads at all levels of progress in your research.  For those new to research, the conference allows you to present your early ideas to your peers, and to gain invaluable skills and confidence in formally presenting your work at confirmations, university, industry and other national and international conferences.  For those more advanced in your research (or even completing!), the conference allows an opportunity to share both your results and the “secrets of your success” with those just starting out.  And for those wishing merely to attend without presenting, the conference allows an opportunity to bask in the brilliance of SCU’s finest and brightest!

Coursework Students

The conference provides a great opportunity for presenting your industry-focused achievements, and/or for interrogating both existing and emerging industry policy and practices. Whether you are well established in an organisation or expect to be on completion of your studies, this conference provides you an opportunity to improve or experiment with your presentation skills in a non-threatening environment.

Benefits to all Postgrads

The conference also provides a relaxed social environment where postgrads can meet other postgrads at varying levels of completion, and share and learn from your trials, tribulations and successes on your extraordinary journey into higher degree study and research.

Costs & Travel Subsidy

The conference is free of charge to all SCU postgraduate and honours students.  Lunches and refreshments will be provided, along with a complimentary Conference Dinner on the Thursday night.  All presenters will be provided with up to 2 nights accommodation (Wednesday 14th & Thursday 15th June) including breakfast if travelling beyond the Lismore region.  Those requiring accommodation outside of these days will need to make bookings and payment for the additional nights directly with the hotel.

All presenters will also be provided a reasonable travel subsidy.  For further details on what is covered in the travel subsidy please click here.

  • PAPER PRESENTATIONS:  Your formal presentation should be timed at about 20-25 minutes, with a further 5-10 minute “question-and-answer” session.
  • POSTER PRESENTATION SESSION: No formal size specifications, however if you require SCPA to print it will need to be A3 format.  We also encourage students to present posters you may have already prepared for external conferences.  As a guide your Poster should include;
    • Title of Poster
    • Author(s) affiliations(s)
    • Abstract
    • Introduction
