Banujan Kuhaneswaran is an international student pursuing his PhD at Southern Cross University’s Gold Coast Campus, attached to the Faculty of Science and Engineering. His doctoral research focuses on Flood Prediction using Deep Learning, aiming to predict floods multiple steps ahead, ranging from 1 to 5 days in advance.
Banujan holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Computing and Information Systems, which he completed with Second Class Upper Division honors and an impressive FGPA of 3.67 out of 4.0. His academic excellence was recognized with a Gold Medal for being the best undergraduate researcher.
His research interests span various fields, including data mining, social media mining, ontology modeling, and knowledge management. Banujan’s passion lies in academia and research, with aspirations to become an accomplished academician and researcher.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Banujan is actively involved in student leadership. He currently serves as the Vice President of Welfare for the CoastRs Student Association, the representative student-body organization for Southern Cross University’s Gold Coast Campus.
Banujan’s combination of technical expertise, research acumen, and leadership experience positions him as a promising contributor to both the academic community and student welfare initiatives.
