The conference is suited to postgrads at all levels of progress in your research. For those new to research, the conference allows you to present your early ideas to your peers, and to gain invaluable skills and confidence in formally presenting your work at confirmations, university, industry and other national and international conferences. For those more advanced in your research the conference allows an opportunity to share both your results and the “secrets of your success” with those just starting out.
The conference provides a great opportunity for presenting your industry-focused achievements, and/or for interrogating both existing and emerging industry policy and practices. Whether you are well established in an organisation or expect to be on completion of your studies, this conference provides you an opportunity to improve or experiment with your presentation skills in a non-threatening environment. Many of you will be undertaking a mini-thesis this will be a good opportunity to brainstorm this with your peers.
The conference also provides a relaxed social environment where postgrads can meet other postgrads at varying levels of completion, and share and learn from your trials, tribulations and successes on your extraordinary journey into higher degree study and research. Further the Graduate School Conference Funding policy requires that a student “must normally have made an oral or poster presentation at an annual School/Institute or Post Graduate Association conference prior to applying for conference assistance funding”. So get involved to be eligible for future conference assistance from SCU.
