PRAXIS, the annual SCPA Postgrad Research and Practice Conference, is a two-day conference where SCU’s research, coursework postgrads and honours students can gain experience in formally presenting your work to your peers in a supportive and collegial academic environment.
PRAXIS 2018 will be our 5th Annual Conference and this year will be held Wednesday 20th – Thursday 21st June at SCU’s Gold Coast Campus. Our 2018 conference once again will be the gathering place for research and coursework postgrads, honours students and our supervisors from across all disciplines at SCU.
Please register to attend as a presenter or attendee. We also invite friends/peers to attend the conference to support the presenters. Registrations close Friday 25th May.
The conference is suited to postgrads at all levels of progress in your research. For those new to research, the conference allows you to present your early ideas to your peers, and to gain invaluable skills and confidence in formally presenting your work at confirmations, university, industry and other national and international conferences. For those more advanced in your research the conference allows an opportunity to share both your results and the “secrets of your success” with those just starting out.
The conference provides a great opportunity for presenting your industry-focused achievements, and/or for interrogating both existing and emerging industry policy and practices. Whether you are well established in an organisation or expect to be on completion of your studies, this conference provides you an opportunity to improve or experiment with your presentation skills in a non-threatening environment. Many of you will be undertaking a mini-thesis this will be a good opportunity to brainstorm this with your peers.
The conference also provides a relaxed social environment where postgrads can meet other postgrads at varying levels of completion, and share and learn from your trials, tribulations and successes on your extraordinary journey into higher degree study and research. Further the Graduate School Conference Funding policy requires that a student “must normally have made an oral or poster presentation at an annual School/Institute or Post Graduate Association conference prior to applying for conference assistance funding”. So get involved to be eligible for future conference assistance from SCU.
The conference is free of charge to all SCU postgraduate and honours students. Lunches and refreshments will be provided, along with a complimentary Conference Dinner on the Wednesday night. All presenters will be provided with up to 2 nights accommodation (Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th) beyond the Gold Coast region. Those requiring accommodation outside of these days will need to make bookings and payment for the additional nights directly with the hotel. All presenters will also be provided a reasonable travel and accommodation subsidy. For further details on what is covered in the travel subsidy please click here
